Entrepreneurial spirit in hand, Justin started "Big Ideas". Under the Big Ideas name, he was involved in off-line advertising and market research campaigns for B2C companies including: Nokia, HDNet, Young Audiences and Rockfish to name a few. He was also producer in charge of marketing for the independent documentary, Listen, which won nation-wide acclaim and a student Academy Award.
Eager for a challenge, Justin joined Graphics Marketing and Communications as their Assistant Creative Director. Justin created direct mail campaigns and sales/promotional collateral for some of GM&C's highest profile clients including: Six Flags Worldwide, and
The Houstonian.
In May 2005, Justin broke into the business-to-business market when he joined Starr Tincup as a project manager. He was quickly promoted up through the ranks filling a number of rolls including, Manager of Delivery, Senior Traffic Manager and Director of Marketing Activities where he played a leading role in creative design, technical development and campaign strategy.
In his Director Role, his responsibilities included: client management, corporate planning, marketing consulting, creative and technical direction, and project management.
While at Starr Tincup, Justin worked to revolutionize the marketing and sales activities for a number of high-tech software and service companies including: Digital Realty Trust, HRmarketer, Fieldglass, Deploy Solutions, QuantumClean, and The Trade Group.
Justin left Starr Tincup early in 2007 a little older and a lot wiser to start Justin Downey Marketing because he believed that marketing could be an investment and that small and start-up businesses in Texas deserved the very best in high-impact, low-cost marketing.
